Mrs. Patterson’s background as a reading specialist renders her uniquely qualified to help not only those who struggle with decoding and encoding, but also those who have difficulty grasping concept imagery while reading, which is essential to ascertaining meaning. Her training and work with Lindamood Bell’s groundbreaking program “Visualizing and Verbalizing” allows her to help students grasp the “imaged gestalt.” She is particularly skilled at helping those who need better comprehension skills to set a foundation for higher-order thinking and literary analysis.
